AARC Approval

AARC Approval is a formal, non-governmental, peer-review process of voluntary self evaluation. AARC Approved programs contribute in part to the preparation of students who wish to enter the lactation profession. AARC honors a diversity of educational models such as distance education, self-paced programs, programs within large and small institutions, college-based programs and those that are not-for-profit and for-profit.

Approval Requirements

  • The program has existed for more than one year and has been offered more than one time.
  • The program offers a minimum of 45 contact hours and covers areas of the IBLCE Exam Blueprint.
  • The primary faculty has been IBCLC certified for more than 5 years.

Application Process

To apply for Initial Approval, download the Initial Approval Application and send your completed application to us with your application fee. The application will be processed within approximately one month of receipt. Initial Approval is granted for three (3) years. The Approval Fee is US $500 for Initial Approval.

Approved courses must apply for Continuing Approval sixty (60) days prior to the end of their approval period to avoid a lapse in their approval status. Continuing Approval is granted for five (5) years. The Approval Fee is US $800 for Continuing Approval. Download the Continuing Approval Application.
